Mumbai: PSA India, a leading global port operator and trusted partner in India’s trade ecosystem, has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to inclusive growth through a series of community-focused CSR programmes across the Uran region. Anchored in PSA’s vision of sustainable and equitable development, these initiatives address critical areas of public health, education, and livelihood enhancement by empowering individuals while strengthening social infrastructure around its operations.

Driving Preventive Healthcare through Early Detection

In partnership with the Arpan Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society, PSA India supported a large-scale screening and awareness programme between December 2024 and March 2025. The initiative focused on identifying Thalassemia and Sickle Cell minor traits among young adults to prevent births of Thalassemia major children. Through targeted awareness sessions and counselling, the project has fostered greater understanding of preventive healthcare among local communities, directly contributing to India’s public health priorities.

Empowering Women through Skilling and Livelihood

As part of its livelihood development mission, PSA India collaborated with the Astha Social Foundation to implement the Women Skilling Programme in Uran. The initiative trained local women and youth in tailoring and General Duty Assistant (GDA) skills by equipping participants with market-relevant expertise and enabling pathways to self-reliance. Beyond employment creation, the programme has strengthened financial independence and gender inclusivity in the region’s workforce.

Building Strong Foundations in Early Childhood Education

PSA India’s CSR efforts also extend to quality education and child protection. In association with Vipla Foundation (earlier known as Save The Children India), the Early Childhood Care and Protection Programme trained pre-primary teachers and conducted hearing screening for children across Uran block. The project aims to build long-term educational resilience by ensuring early learning support, teacher capacity building, and early intervention for children with hearing challenges.

Community Upliftment through Education and Awareness

Complementing its health and education outreach, PSA India partnered with WOSCA to drive the Jigyasa Max Programme, a hub-and-spoke model of community engagement promoting education and local capacity development. The initiative aligns closely with India’s national priorities on inclusive learning and sustainable community empowerment.

Anchoring Global Expertise to Local Impact

With a portfolio spanning over 60 deep-sea, rail, and inland terminals across 45 countries, PSA brings its global expertise to India’s developmental landscape. These CSR initiatives reflect PSA India’s broader commitment to sustainable logistics, community well-being, and alignment with frameworks such as the National Logistics Policy and Gati Shakti Vision. By integrating global best practices with local needs, PSA India continues to play an enabling role in shaping India’s trade and socio-economic growth.
