Pune: One of the most reputed healthcare institutes in India, providing eye care, NIO Super Specialty Hospital, recently launched an awareness campaign to promote the importance of eye screening and regular check-ups. As a part of this initiative, the hospital is organising several eye-checkup camps across Pune and aims to reach more than 10,000 patients by the end of the month.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr Aditya Kelkar, Director, NIO Super Specialty Hospital, said, “In India, serious eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are among the leading causes for blindness among individuals. The key to tackling such conditions is early detection and treatment. Thereby, through this city-wide campaign, we aim to not only promote the importance of regular eye-checkups and screening but also help patients with any eye-related issues they might have. Having already received an overwhelmingly positive response for some of the camps we held in the past week, we hope to be able to help several more patients in the coming days.”
The hospital recently held eye camps at Baner Police Station, LIC, and Spicer Adventist University. Doctors from the hospital can guide more than 300 patients from all age groups with regard to their eye conditions, as well as highlighting the importance of regular eye screenings. Each camp provided comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing, screening for common eye conditions, and counselling for maintaining eye health. The initiative was designed to encourage preventive care and reduce the risk of long-term vision problems.
NIO Super Specialty Hospital will be conducting camps at the District Collector’s Office at Agarkar Nagar, Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) office at Aundh and Maha-Metro Office at Koregaon Park.
Through these initiatives, the hospital is continuing to prioritise accessible eye care, ensuring that individuals across Pune can monitor and maintain their eye health effectively.
