Mumbai, June 28, 2018: MGL Unnati, a CSR initiative of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), which provides free coaching of meritorious children from economically weaker sections of the society, witnessed a remarkable performance once again. Of the 30 students enrolled in the current batch, 29 students qualified in the JEE (Mains). Out of these, seven students cleared the JEE (Advance), paving way for admissions to prestigious IIT/NITs. This achievement is significant, as out of the seven students qualifying in JEE (Advance), three are girls. The encouraging performance of these girls contributes to our larger objective of educating and empowering the girl child, while supporting the national campaign of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
Students from the last four batches of MGL Unnati, having cleared JEE mains, have found place in IITs, NITs and State engineering colleges. Through this initiative which is in its fifth year now, MGL has been able to reach out to 110 meritorious students from humble backgrounds, and has mentored and coached them to achieve their dreams.
In 2013-14, MGL tied up with Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership, Delhi, which conducts Abhayanand Super 30 programme for coaching students for JEE entrance exams in various parts of the country. The goal of the project is to create a congenial environment for the children from underprivileged families to acquire knowledge for achieving their dreams of becoming engineers from reputed institutions.
