LG Electronics Pledges Support Towards Education of the Girl Child, Signs MOU with Kendriya Sainik Board

New Delhi, October 10, 2020: Ahead of International Day of the Girl Child, LG Electronics, India’s leading consumer durable brand, has pledged support towards the education of the girl child by signing an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Kendriya Sainik. As part of its ‘Kar Salaam’ CSR initiative, LG Electronics donated Rs One Crore to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF) under the Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat (KSB SECTT), a nodal organisation of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence. The donation will be utilised for education of the girl children of martyrs and ex-servicemen. AFFDF is dedicated to the welfare of war widows, children of martyrs, war-disabled soldiers and ex-servicemen.

LG Electronics has been working on a number of CSR initiatives to help the community in every possible aspect and reaffirm its commitment towards the people. In these precarious and financially-challenging times, LG Electronics is trying to support the dependents of our brave martyrs and their families by providing access to education to their girl children. Kar Salaam initiative was started three years ago by LG Electronics, dedicated to the soldiers of India to salute their spirit of generous contribution and service towards the nation.

Commenting on the occasion, Young Lak Kim, MD, LG Electronics India said, “The education of the girl child has the ability to bring socio-economic changes, and through this initiative, we aim to provide financial support to the cause and help in bringing a positive change to the world. On this International Day of the Girl Child, we want to inspire the young generation, especially girls, who want to be a partner of social change and help them in achieving their dreams. We are extremely thankful to Kendriya Sainik Board for implementing this initiative.”
