Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Conducts Beach Cleaning Under Go Green Initiative

Mumbai, February 9, 2020: Dana Pani Beach in Malad witnessed a host of known personalities and volunteers who came forth for a beach cleaning drive. This drive was conducted as part of the CSR activity – Go Green Initiative – brought about by the team of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards in collaboration with MP Group, and Cause Partner – Child Help Foundation. The event witnessed the presence of UN Environment’s Champion of the Earth Award Winner – Adv. Afroz Shah as Chief Guest, the Consul General of Norway in India – Ann Ollestad, Saba Khan -Big Boss 12 Contestant, and school and college students from across Mumbai.

Abhishek Mishra, CEO of DPIFF, said, “We are grateful to be joining hands with Adv. Afroz Shah for the Beach Cleaning Drive. This saves the lives of marine animals and improves the beach ecosystem. It has been five years since we have pledged to carry forward the initiative of a sustainable environment, and we couldn’t be more thankful for taking this forward with the help of our team, partners and enthusiastic volunteers.” The cause witnessed more than 500 volunteers supporting Team DPIFF. To better understand the types and amount of waste, Adv. Afroz Shah and the team guided the volunteers. It was heartwarming to witness the young crowd working tirelessly to pick up trash under the blazing sun. Yash Jain, Creative Head at DPIFF said, “No one likes a dirty beach. As the ocean takes care of us, we should take care of our ocean by keeping it clean and healthy.”

Neha Singh, Marketing Director – DPIFF shared that, “When we removed the plastic that was stuck on the branches and roots of the mangroves, it felt like we freed them from a bind.”

MarCom Director, Vinay Punamiya, DPIFF added: “Our oceans need to be kept clean, which is every individual’s responsibility and to make sure it doesn’t get polluted, one should reduce the garbage at home.”

This year, DPIFF will honour and pay tribute to the two most phenomenal legends of the nation on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalkeji and Mahatma Gandhiji at the ‘Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2020’ on 20th February 2020.
