CAF India and Oracle Conducted Regional Capacity-Building Workshops for Nonprofits

New Delhi/Mumbai/Bengaluru/Chennai: The ‘CONNECT 2019’ workshops focused on advancing grant and financial management, statutory and HR compliance, programme implementation cycles, and the use of digital media to highlight programme impact and peer learning. Conducted with the vision to strengthen the working relationships among Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) India, Oracle, and Oracle-supported grantees, these workshops explored how to deliver high-impact CSR projects and programmes that improve and transform the lives of those in need, and drive long-term change.

Through Corporate Citizenship, Oracle supports diverse, innovative and unique interventions to advance education, protect the environment, and strengthen communities in India. Beneficiaries of these projects include primary school teachers, women entrepreneurs, health workers, out-of-school children, endangered wildlife species, and the natural world.

Considering the diverse nature of organisations based on geographical location and focus areas, these workshops served as a platform for participants to put forth their concerns and share their learnings. This, in turn, facilitated peer-to-peer learning and sharing of best practices. The workshops covered a wide range of themes focused on legal compliance, nuances of CSR investment, importance of effective communication in the nonprofit sector, impact reporting, and budgets and financial management of grants.

“Oracle is grateful for the opportunity to connect and engage with our grantees in such a deep and meaningful way,” said Colleen Cassity, Executive Director of Oracle Corporate Citizenship. “We’re proud to support an excellent portfolio of organisations, whose work is critical to strengthening the infrastructure that supports a healthy society. Special thanks to CAF India for bringing us all together.”

Meenakshi Batra, CEO, CAF India, added, “Creating impact is a long-term process that requires both nonprofits and corporate citizens to think forward but plan backwards. Socially conscious partners like Oracle make significant contributions in our efforts towards institutional strengthening, which is absolutely essential in the changing landscape. Oracle has been investing in capacity-building for over a hundred CAF India supported nonprofits, helping them deliver not just on Oracle-supported projects, but overall as an organisation.”

Bringing together teams from CAF India, Oracle, and over 200 representatives from Oracle-supported nonprofits, the workshops enabled participants to uncover shared synergies and to learn from each other’s experiences and efforts in order to bring about long-term, sustainable change.
