HCL Foundation Launches Jatayu – an Automatic Litter Picking Vehicle to Transform Noida into India’s Cleanest City

Noida, February 3, 2021: HCL Foundation through its Project Clean Noida, launched a new initiative – the Chakachak Village programme. As part of this, it will introduce four Jatayu vehicles for automatic litter picking, covering the 61 urban villages in Noida. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson, HCL Technologies along with Alok Varma, Project Director, HCL Foundation, flagged off these vehicles at the HCL Campus in Sector 126, Noida.

Jatayu forms an important arm of the Clean Noida programme during the pandemic to manage solid waste and maintain hygiene standards in the city’s villages while avoiding interaction between waste and workers.

Additionally, as part of the Chakachak initiative, a team of 20-25 people from Clean NOIDA will survey the hygiene situation at each urban village in the city and undertake bi-weekly cleaning and beautification drives. The team will also distribute dustbins, share regular messages within local WhatsApp groups and organise virtual workshops to sensitise citizens against open waste dumping and effective waste segregation methods.

About #CleanNoida
#CleanNoida was launched in 2019 in partnership with Noida Authority to tackle the issue of solid waste management in the city by driving intensive behaviour change campaigns, awareness drives and implementing technology solutions. The project aims to sensitise residents, professionals and small commercial establishments of Noida about the importance of waste segregation and proper disposal of garbage.
