Nagda, September 20, 2017: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, LANXESS India Private Limited, the leading chemicals specialist company, has asserted its commitment for technological intervention in educational empowerment by setting up e-learning tools in Government College, Nagda, Madhya Pradesh.
This project is in line with LANXESS’ vision of a digital future and also finds resonance with the current government’s focus in creating a digitally-empowered nation.
With the fast changing technology, the need for better teaching tools has been growing rapidly. While the privileged or private-run educational institutions have made the most of the technology available, students from the state-run municipal institutions seem to be losing out, primarily due to financial inability to procure technology-based learning tools.
LANXESS has sought to play a key role to fulfill this gap by providing such infrastructure to underprivileged educational institutions and give an equal opportunity to students.
LANXESS India, in a ceremony held at Civil Hospital, Nagda, in the presence of Mr. Dilip Singh Shekhawat, Member of Legislative Assembly; Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Executive Director, LANXESS India; Mr. Sanjay Singh, Site Head, Nagda, LANXESS India and other esteemed dignitaries from the State and local administration, formalised the Agreement with the State’s Arts, Science and Commerce College of Nagda to support the institution with seven interactive e-learning tools at a cost of around Rs.15 Lakhs.
The internet support needed for the e-learning tools will be provided by the college management, while the maintenance of the tools will be taken upon by LANXESS India.
At the same function, LANXESS India also presented a cheque of Rs.10 Lakhs to the Nagda Civil Hospital authorities as part of its three year-long commitment to contribute towards the upgradation of the existing facilities and infrastructure of the hospital. Having already supported the hospital with a dialysis machine last year, the amount presented this year will be used to procure a much needed state-of-the-art sonography machine for the hospital. The local authorities along with the hospital management presented to LANXESS the need of a sonography machine as the patients, especially women, had to travel long distances to get such basic tests done. The machine is expected to be installed at the hospital by the end of this year. The Civil Hospital has undertaken the responsibility to operate and maintain the sonography machine.
On this occasion, Mr. Neelanjan Banerjee said, “LANXESS has been at the forefront of bringing positive change in the society through its concerted efforts of carrying out its social responsibilities. Education is one of the key areas of our intervention in the field of CSR and we believe the key to build a brighter India is by strengthening the way education is imparted at the base level using all technological advancements available today.”
Commenting on the project, Mr. Sanjay Singh said, “The initiatives undertaken by LANXESS India are a small way in which we can give back to society. Education is a basic right and all students must be able to avail the technological advancements in learning. Basic healthcare facilities must be provided to all, and the installation of the sonography machine at the Civil Hospital of Nagda is a continuation of our commitment to provide quality healthcare facilities in the region.”
